project realization courtsey of all of my friends at recom farmhouse nyc

this project is something extremely emotional and dear to me. for years now, i’ve conceptualized in many crude ways the idea of this insane, playful, absurd reality in which my favorite historic and retired race cars live on- as daily drivers. its the ultimate petrolhead dream. to blast to the shops in a car designed for the mulsanne straight. silly- i’ll admit, but a dream i can confidently say i share amongst countless likeminded individuals. the nature of a petrolhead or gearhead is to constantly be scanning for cars whilst roaming about. it’s an unexplainable occurrence anyone who likes cars and motorcycles experiences. to most people, walking around and just looking at cars would spark the same amount of interest as staring at the sidewalks. to most- cars are tools, disposable grey tin boxes. things you own only out of necessity to fulfill a simple purpose. but cars contribute so much more to us than that. to an enthusiast, walking around and looking at cars is like roaming through the louvre- gawking at otherworldly sculpture, and visceral art you can only someday hope to experience yourself. the automobile is- in my opinion- the most extreme tool and expression of oneself. this project is for those crazy, absurd individuals like myself; who love racing. which can only be described as a silly and meaningless sport, filled with passion and excitement like nothing else. to envision seeing one of these cars, especially in this setting is what i was glad i could finally push to the next level. this project was made possible by some extremely talented and likeminded individuals.

Art, Automobiles and Us is a global exhibition focused on finding ways we can further understand this relationship through the lens of artists. The project is organized throughout six international locations, each with a different theme based on artists who have somehow used or incorporated automobiles into their work. The exhibition aims to bring those who enjoy automobiles into an artistic sphere, as well as raise awareness about the interesting relationship between humans and automobiles to a wider museum audience.

racing liveries
12 x 12 in
hardcover book
a book designed extruding the liveries off race cars to create a piece of design or artwork reflective to each car selected. the names of the race cars were cut out of the page, allowing the fill on the typography to physically be the racecar while the viewer looks at the corresponding artwork.

crest solar white 38 lb inkjet paper, PVA glue, string, 150 lb natural cover paper
The publication I designed, printed and bound is titled 'Type 57' due to its metaphorical reference to the car the Bugatti Atlantic Type 57SC. Physically and metaphorically the car is something of extreme exoticism and unattainability. The articles which I have chosen to use for the publication all in their own way relate to these themes. Each title page was bound as a French fold to create an unobtainable, yet immersive image relating to the overall theme of each article.
type 57 (issue 2)

crest solar white 38 lb inkjet paper, PVA glue, string, 150 lb natural cover paper
the design and content of issue 2 is focused on censorship.
type 57 (issue 3)
8 x 10 in
crest solar white 38 lb inkjet paper, PVA glue, string, 150 lb natural cover paper
Issue 3 was designed around the concept and idea of "trolls" and "trolling." the typography was treated in a way to "troll" the traditional rules and use.

color chat
for this project I explored how a chat could happen without words, usernames, or any of the typical things used for an online chat would be. I wrote the code so when you arrive on the website, you're welcomed on a page which randomly goes through every RGB color on refresh which says 'Press any key to begin.' when you do press a random key, the color shifts to a random color. each key uses the same RGB randomization, so there is no way to create a pattern purposefully. as more people join, they are represented as their own 'line' in the gradient scale, which means the more people, the more lines, which also means more colors shifting in real time. the page has a live refresh, so as everyone is pressing their keys on the keyboard, the page constantly shows the interaction of people on the website. it is a way which shows someone is there, on the other end of the screen, interacting with the same space at the same time. an interaction on the website allows the users to have a space of human interaction via the web.
